We
provide the highest quality, certified organic, US-grown
Essiac Tea Herbs in the world and we have the proof to back up
that claim. You may have already searched the internet
to find the correct Essiac Tea formula & recipe and have
become confused by all the conflicting claims by herb
companies. We reveal the truth about Essiac Tea with
documentation and videos on our Essiac Circle of Friends
website.
We have over twenty years of experience using Essiac Tea, growing Essiac Tea herbs and have conducted extensive research to separate fact from fiction. Unlike other companies we provide full disclosure as to how we grow, weed, harvest, dry, powder, process, package and store our herbs. The center photo above shows our field in North Idaho with sheep sorrel just beginning to bloom in May. The background photo shows a close up of just our sheep sorrel leaves.
Nurse Rene Caisse (pronounced "Reen Case") developed the Essiac Tea formula from a native American "medicine man" tea for cancer. She called it "Essiac", which is her surname spelled backwards. However, it gained a reputation through a hundred years of use that Essiac Tea was not just effective for the prevention and treatment of cancer--It is a foundational herbal tea that covers more health issues than any other single tea!
Unlike some herbal teas, if made correctly Essiac tea has a pleasant taste and people can drink it on a regular basis to improve their health.
We have provided the only
legal documentation here that reveals the correct Essiac Tea
formula which must contain Burdock root (Arctium lappa), Sheep
Sorrel (Rumex acetosella, all plant parts but especially the
leaf and root), Slippery Elm inner bark (Ulmus rubra) and
Turkey Rhubarb root (Rheum palmatum tanguticum). We have
also provided the Essiac Tea documentation in our video "Sheep
Sorrel Roots in Essiac" here
and on our Essiac Circle of Friends video section page.
We do not alter Rene Caisse's official documented formula in any way whatsoever. We do not add other herbs that are not in the documented formula that Rene was using at the end of her life after fifty years of scientific research, clinical trials in her Bracebridge, Ontario Cancer Clinic and personal, hands-on care with cancer patients. Other companies add other herbs such as kelp, thistle, goldthread, red clover, etc, which were not part of Rene Caisse's documented formula and recipe. As Rene Caisse stated: "If it works, don't change it."
Sheep sorrel leaf is also
very essential to the Essiac Tea formula and it must be the
primary component of the total sheep sorrel content. The
leaves are harvested in the spring whereas the roots are
harvested in the fall, but the root content should not exceed
25% of the total sheep sorrel content. We will explain
why that is important as we build this new website. In the
meantime we have all of our information about Essiac Tea on
our Essiac Circle of
Friends website.
American farmers are no longer growing sheep sorrel so herb companies import it mostly from Bulgaria and Croatia. The official Essiac recipe calls for powdered sheep sorrel which normally is green. However, the sheep sorrel from these foreign countries is brown, not green. It is dead plant material that offers zero health benefits. We are the only company offering certified organic GREEN sheep sorrel grown in the United States. It must also be hand-harvested because sheep sorrel leaf grows too close to the ground for farm machinery to cut.
Sheep sorrel is very labor-intensive to grow so real Essiac Tea costs considerably more than the fake "Essiac" herbs. Like most everything else, you get what you pay for. Click on our "Essiac Quality" page for detailed description of how we handcraft our Special Blend Essiac Tea Herbs with quality control every step of the way from farm to final packaged product. Essiac is only as effective as the quality of each herb and no one does it better than the Essiac Circle of Friends.
